TRAILER ANALYSIS.
At the beginning of the trailer, there is a Non-diegetic sound of a one tone, high pitched noise, which instantly creates an eerie atmosphere for the audience. The dialogue of the characters helps the audience to understand what the story is about.
There are a lot of dissolves and fades in between the clips, which again creates a sinister feel.
The first piece of text that appears says "out of the city" which shows that the characters are going to be out of their comfort zone and going to a place they haven't been before, creating danger for the couple. The text's font looks as if it is slightly broken, which implies unsafeness.
The trailer then shows a close up to the couples SATNAV telling them to turn around, the fact that a close up is used, shows that this is important.Pan shots of the scenery are used to establish where abouts the couple are. The scenery looks peaceful and relaxing, however the music accompanying it, makes it seem sinister.
We then see a close up of the woman sleeping and then there is a fast cut to the lake, which looks dull and dingy. The Non-Diegetic grows louder which implies something is about to happen. A red filter is used over the lake and the music is loud, which shocks the audience. The red filter could represent blood and suggests that there is going to be gore in the film.

A quick cut to a dog barking at the woman appears and the music still remains loud, which again shocks the audience. A negative effect is used as the male emerges out of the water. This creates a sense of vunerability for the character.
An establishing shot of the beach is quickly shown, whilst the dog runs back to a gang of teenagers at the other end of the beach. This informs the audience of where abouts the couple are.
The establishing shot is then merged into a clip of the teenagers messing about, the audience think nothing of if because no sense of danger to the couple is apparent at this time. However, the music still remains the same through-out the trailer, reminding the audience that something bad is going to happen.
A shot of the couple laying on the beach, shows the noisy teenagers in the background. The male then says "we're not going to be bullied away by a bunch of 12 year olds" Then there is a cut to black. This implies th
at what the male has said is wrong and that the teenagers are going to cause them trouble. Then a fade up from black shows the male confronting the teens. The editing is quick paced as the teenagers become more and more cheeky towards the male. We see a close up of the male's face and then it suddenly cuts to a white fade. This shows that the male realises that the teenagers are going to be a problem.
A wide depth of field is used when the male is in front of the woman, however he is unfocused and the focus is on the woman in the background. This shows that the woman is in a vunerable position and this is confirmed when she says "where is the beach bag" which instantly create a problem for the couple. The camera then cuts to a clip of the teenagers which shows that they obviously have something to do with it.

A shot of the lake is then used which looks more darker and sinister than the last shot of it, implying that the couple are in danger.
The lighting becomes darker and there is a sound of a car engine revving and the camerawork becomes fast paced to match the action. A darker red filter is used over the top of one of the teenagers, implying that he is a dangerous person.
For the next 10 seconds of the trailer a series of clips are used showing a red filter at the end of them. The music sounds like a loud drum when each of the filters appears, this emphasises the horror of the situation. The last clip is a quick flash of the man getting brutally attacked by the teenagers and the music becomes louder and the editing pace increases, shocking the audience.
The last part of the trailer has faced paced editing of the couple trying to escape the teenagers. The non-diegetic music again becomes fast paced and text appears saying "get away from it all" which is a play on words because originally the couple wanted to get away from their normal lives for a break, however they end up trying to get away from their break and trying to get help.

The end sequence is a close up of the woman hiding and suddenly the door bursts open and there is a final black out which i think is effective because we don't see what is behind the door, which i think makes it seem a lot scarier.
